Clemson Hackathon 2020
CUhackit is Clemson University's fully student-run, large-scale hackathon. Come spend 24 hours with us hacking, laughing, and learning!
The AWS Challenge
Design, build, or code the best hack you can that makes use of AWS broad suite of tools.
If your project involves machine learning, web hosting, IoT, or any type of cloud computing, this is the category for you! Utilize your free AWS Educate credits to push your projects to the limits of your imagination. If you need guidance, AWS has plenty of mentors here to help!
Each member of the winning team will receive
Best Hardware Hack
For our hackers with ambition and the hardware chops to back it up.
At CUhackit, we’ll have (at the very least) the MLH hardware lab at full force. But, if you’ve got your own aspirations that require other hardware, feel free to BYOH! The winner of this category will be the team or individual with the best overall hack predicated on hardware.
Each member of the winning team will receive a Raspberry Pi and Drone
Best Use of Data
For the teams that drive their hacks with a big data backend!
If you’re interested in data-viz, ML, or AI, you’re in the right place! Feel free to go with the tried-and-true Kaggle method, but we recommend you talk to our partners about the data in their field! If you want to take a stab at gene clustering to investigate disease or regression to predict stock market trends, you’ve got some subject-matter experts in the atrium!
Each member of the winning team will receive Bose Soundproof Headphones
The Beginner Hacker Award
For the beginners trying to learn something new!
We at CUhackit take pride in encouraging hacking at all experience levels! If you’re a bit of a rookie hacker, a novice builder, or an amateur creator, this one’s for you. The Beginner Hacker Award will be given to a team of newcomers who show great character and a passion to learn.
Each member of the winning team will receive a Firestick
Hack for the People
Use your hacking skills to promote social good!
Here at CUhackit, we don’t only promote design and innovation, we also value using technology to improve the world around us. From projects that help reduce negative impacts on the environment to applications that bring resources to communities in need, your hack will help those who need it. The winner of this category will be the team with the best hack that makes a positive impact!
Each member of the winning team will receive a Fitbit and Fully Wireless Earbuds
The Ingenuity Hack
If you just want to make something cool, this is the category for you!
Ingenuity is defined as “the quality of being clever, original, and inventive”. If you think you’re making something that fits any of those qualifications, apply for this category!
Each member of the winning team will receive a Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker and a Portable USB Charger
[MLH] Best use of Google Cloud
Build your hackathon project with a suite of secure storage, powerful compute, and integrated data analytics products provided by Google Cloud. See full list of products here: g.co/cloud. Each winning team member will receive a Google Home Mini.
[MLH] Best Domain Name from Domain.com (2)
Register a domain using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. Each winning team member will receive a Domain.com branded backpack.
[MLH] Best Automation Hack with UiPath
Build or add automation to your hack using UiPath! Each winning team member will receive a Limited Edition UiPath Branded Backpack and an opportunity to interview for a UiPath Internship in 2020 with high recommendation!
[MLH] Best use of Blockstack
Create an app using the Blockstack Platform. Each winning team member will receive a pair of Apple BeatsX Earphones. The opportunity with Blockstack doesn't end with the event. Any app built with Blockstack during a hackathon that successfully registers for the App Mining program will receive an additional $200 reward.
[MLH] Most Creative Radar.io Hack
Build the most creative hack using Radar's SDKs and APIs for geofencing, location search, and geocoding. Some ideas for location-aware projects include a delivery tracker, campus building locator, and a Find my Friends clone.
